Small Talk Country Women’s Association (CWA) members attended a farewell lunch at the Riverina Hotel. President, Gwenda McNamara is leaving Hay, with husband Tony, for Berrigan. Gwenda will be greatly missed by CWA members. Regular members at the Hay Services Club Joe Deluca and Jim Little. For Mothers Day every year, Jim makes chrysanthemum posies for all the ladies at the club. These cute little bouquets are much appreciated by locals and visitors find the idea “quaint” and “typical of the country”. An extra ordinary meeting has been called for CWA at 10am on 6th June at the RSL Rooms. All members are asked to attend. Jim shared Joe Deluca’s interesting story of how Joe came to Hay: 63 years ago Joe came for a visit during the school holidays - he has been here ever since. That’s one very long holiday. Guide Leaders Shirley Hajek, Monica Eade and Bev Wilson helping the Girl Guides fundraising efforts. Plates of beautiful scones with cream and jam were the order of the day for afternoon tea. Orders had been taken a couple of days in advance and the ladies spent a cold Friday in the warm kitchen getting orders ready. Gail Rosewarne is feeling good. Over two years Gail claims to have lost 29 kilos. She says, “Healthy food, plenty of water and walking, also to be happy,” are the secrets to her weight loss.
