Gill’s Greatest Shave Gillian Whiteley held a fundraising BBQ in Lachlan Street in December raising money towards her goal of $4,000 for Gill’s Greatest Shave, raising funds for the Lukemia Foundation. Gillian Whitley and Fi Gaston raising funds for Gill’s Greatest Shave for the Leukemia Foundation which takes place at the South Hay Hotel on 14th March, 2014. From Gillians facebook page: “A BIG THANKS to Mackers Meats for the snags. Harrison's IGA for the water and soft drink. Robbo's Hot Bread for the bread and the South Hay Pub for their support for the street BBQ.” A hamper for raffle was also kindly donated by the ANZ BANK Hay. Hay Night Rodeo Working Bee Getting ready for 8th February, Night Rodeo, the Hay Rodeo Club held a working bee at the Rodeo grounds. Clean up of weeds, fixing speaker wires and building a pop hole for the safety of clowns and workers ,were priorities for the day. The Hay Rodeo Club is run by volunteers who work hard all year to ensure an enjoyable experience for spectators and riders. In 2013 it was decided to change from a day time event to the new evening time starting 6pm for the Rodeo; Slack and Gymkhana start at 3.30pm. Mrs Bean & the Coffee Machine, Snow Cones, Outback Traders (clothing), Cowhides & Sheepskin Products, Side Show Alley (Clowns, Bungee Jumping, Jumping Castle, Walk on Water), Flashing toys for boys & girls, Big Al the Comedy Clown, Ice Creams & at least 5 hours of Thrills & Spills with Bulls, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Barrel Racing, Bareback, Saddle Bronc, Calf Roping, Breakaway Roping, Junior Barrel Racing, Junior Steer Ride, Steer Challenge Race and Gymkhana will be on the schedule for the night, according to the Hay Rodeo Club Group’s Face Book page; “The Hay Rodeo is shaping up to be a great night for young and old alike, so come on down and enjoy a great evening's entertainment.” the Rough Stock Contractor is JP Gill & Sons and Steers will be supplied by the Auldist Family of Hay. Patrons are advised to please remember there is No BYO alcohol permitted through the gates. Bar facilities are available on-site. The Club is happy to announce that Anthony Hyde and Alex ‘Pickles’ Curtis working with a ’bushman’s hammer’. Fred Spain, Garry Congdon, Dennis Curtis, Frog Edwards, Yvonne Domaille (Pres), Garry May, Brian Eames. Behind ‘Frog’ is the ‘pop hole’, a safe area to escape to if chased by bulls/ horses.
