Young students, teachers and parents spent an enjoyable morning at the Hay Gaol. The building with a sad past echoed with the voices of children eagerly peaking into cells full of memorabilia from their grandparents and great grandparents past. Museum caretaker John Matthews was on hand to explain the Gaols history, and entertained the children with stories about the old fashioned items on display. Hay Gaol has free entry for local residents and is a great way to teach kids about the ‘olden days’. New ‘doorbells’ have been installed, which activate voice recorded information to enhance your visit.
