From My Desk
I don't normally use straight-out Press Releases ,
but I want to share this one as it was sent. It is
exciting news for Hay.
NEW COTTON GIN
FOR
MURRUMBIDGEE
VALLEY
Auscott Limited, one of the pioneers of the Australian
cotton industry, has announced plans to construct a new
high capacity cotton gin at Hay in the Murrumbidgee
Valley. In the company’s first expansion to a new river
valley since 1979, design and approval work is well
underway in preparation for commencement of Auscott’s

Champion of Champions
In announcing the project Auscott CEO Harvey Gaynor
said “we have been impressed with the recent
development of the cotton industry by the progressive
and enthusiastic farmers in the Murrumbidgee. This has
given us confidence to make this long-term investment in
the region.”
Hay Services Club Bowls Greens were quite full of
spectators on Sunday 6th October when two champion
Lady Bowlers went head to head, looking for shot bowls to
win the points.
Debbie Lumley and Libby Baldwin, the Bowling Clubs
“Queen of the Greens”, vying for the title of Champion of
Champions played excellent bowls but in the end Libby
took the match with a win of 25 - 17 .
Marketing Director Ashley Power said “this is a
great opportunity for Auscott to play a part in the
future development of the industry in partnership
with local growers as we have in the Namoi,
Macquarie and Gwydir Valleys during the past 50
years.”
The cotton gin will operate at world-leading levels
for quality management and efficiency, giving local
growers access to a state of the art resource for
their expanding cotton production. Construction
and operation of the facility will be managed by
Auscott’s experienced ginning and technical team,
and is expected to provide a significant economic
and social boost for the Hay Shire and the
surrounding region.
