Circle of Friends Helping fund Cancer research. When the Relay for Life event was cancelled in September one team vowed not to give up raising funds for Cancer Research. Circle of Friends held a street stall on the weekend, raising $597.75. From their Face book page: “STREET STALL update! Thanks you to those who donated goodies & to those who purchased them. All monies raised helps the Cancer Council fund vital research into cancer, as well as providing information sessions and flyers. On Sat 16th November, the team is holding a fun filled night in aid of Breast and Ovarian Cancer Awareness. The night will consist of Auctions, Giveaways, Continuous Raffles and according to the teams face Spice up your BBQ this summer Yarra Valley Salad dressing, Chutney and Relish Vinegars and oils Sweet Sauces Sophie Curtis, with help from mum Kim, raised $270 for the Cancer Council. At a recent Magpies game, Sophie arrested Magpies Coach - Neil John Nisbett, and held him for ’ransom’: Taking a bucket around the grounds to raise the money to secure the coaches freedom. “I had fun doing it,” says the pint sized kidnapper.
