Champion
Birds
A cacophony of bird calls greets
visitors to the poultry pavilion at the
Hay Show as chickens, ducks and
pigeons call for attention.
This year judges were afraid they
wouldn’t have enough cages for
everyone as 89 chickens were
entered. “This is the biggest amount
we have had for a long time”, said
Carol Dobbins, organiser and poultry
sitter. Carol, Tracy Adams and Sheryl
Loy (pic. Top left) spent the two days
of the show watering and feeding the
prized birds as well as organising
paper work and officiating with the
Judge - Rod Laverty from Deniliquin.
Grand Champion of the show was
awarded to local bird breeder, Rick
Dunn with a hard feather Bantom.(pic

Trish Jamieson is pictured with her
winning female Soft Feather hen. Trish
also won AOV Light Breed male and
