Life Memberships Awarded Ray Eldridge, Director of the Agriculture Society of NSW, took the microphone and asked Jenny Sheaffe and Marg Harvey to join him. The confused pair stepped forward and Ray told those assembled that Jenny and Margie were being awarded Life Membership to the Hay Show Society for 20 years of work and involvement in the Equestrian Ring. Marg Harvey is a former competitor at the Hay show and both women have maintained a strong involvement since their children rode in events. Both were very surprised and humble in their acceptance of the award. Pictured above: Jill Champan (President Hay Show Society), Ray Eldrige, Marg Harvey, John Cooper, Jenny Sheaffe and Nerida Reid. The Bratney Trophy for Best District Lady Rider winner - Fi Gaston, Maude, riding Peggy. Originally this trophy was won by Mrs E Bratney in 1964 and donated to the Hay Show equestrian events by Arn Turner, her son. Many mothers and daughters have won this trophy over the years. John Cooper, stalwart of the Hay Equestrian world, is pictured with Bob. Bob designed the set up for the jumps in the horse events. He also designed the jumps for the Sydney Olympics. “Hay is well regarded in the equestrian world”, says Jenny Sheaffe, “Too get him is quite a coo.” 18
