Drawing Boards Open House to be Held Before On December 18th, 2013, an open house will be held for the local historic home located on 801 1st Street, Dodge City from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm. Known as the “Hinkle House,” the home has set vacant for a number of years until Interfaith Housing Services, Inc., as well as the City of Dodge City partnered together in efforts to renovate the home through the Abandoned Housing program. After “We are so excited to have worked with the City of Dodge City, as well as the many volunteers from the community who have made this house come to life,” says John Scott, President of IHS. Those interested in attending the event are welcome to enjoy refreshments and a tour of the home. Interfaith Housing Services, Inc., along with the First Christian Church of Dodge City have partnered together to bring three families in need a home. In efforts to expand their campus, the First Christian Church has donated three homes to IHS to make way for a parking lot. The homes will be relocated to Ninth Street in Dodge City, where basements have been poured. Once relocated, the homes will be renovated and sold to clients in need utilizing Interfaith Housing Services’ programs such as the Creating Assets, Savings, and Hope program (CASH). “We are excited to be able to offer clients the opporutnity to purchase a home,” says Kaci Davignon, Western Kansas Coordinator. It is our goal to transition folks from rental housing to home-ownership.”
