Different formats of interactive media
We can find ourselves interacting with media in a variety of places from out video games, websites, hand held devices and televisions.
All of these things include interactive media in some way, for example in our video games we can now play the game by actually moving ourselves. What I mean by this is through the use of cameras and sensors, when I swing my arm in reality my virtual character will swing their arm similarly. These kind of games allow users to get up off their sofas and get more involved in their games and some games have beenn specifcally designed to get users fit.
In websites interactive media in been implemented in forms such as galleries or information. These features are interactive as they allow us to watch and listen as they inform us. For example galleries can be played like slideshows so that each image is displayed for us and the change automatically or if we were to touch or click on a specific image then data will be provided to us. Also in some instances an interactive person or object will provide us with information and depending on what we are to click or touch next, we will be given new or further information.
Handheld devices such as phones and tablets are all almost touch screen nowadays and so offer a lot of interactivity this way. We are able to drag and drop images, manipulate certain objects and explore or browse by tilting, swiping. Also ny downloading certain apps on your handheld device it allows us to scan and view infographics.
Smart televisions offer interactive media as they can controlled by voice and hand movements.
