community needs has been greatly
evidenced during the COVID 19
crisis during which people transport
was halted. Instead of closing the
doors completely, we refocused our
energy on providing delivery of
food and medications in a safe way
to those who could not get to the
stores. Whether that means bringing
them to the service or the service to
them and how it is done we adapted
to get the job done. We could
not have continued our valuable
service without the commitment
and dedication of our volunteer
drivers and would like to take this
opportunity to acknowledge and
thank those volunteers that have
‘stepped up’ helping us through this
Pandemic. Now that the Province
has lifted some restrictions and as
we move through the ‘Regulation
Phases’ we are starting to transport
clients as well as continuing with
request for deliveries. We are
expanding our volunteer base and
are urgently in need of additional
drivers. Doctors’ offices and
hospitals are slowly returning to
normal and there is an even greater
need to help people as they catch
up on appointments that have been
postponed during the COVID- 19.
Urban/Rural Rides is recruiting
volunteers in all of Westmorland
and Albert Counties including
Shediac, Memramcook, Sackville
and Moncton. This is a great time to
register as a volunteer as we assist
clients with their transportation
in our caring communities. If
you have a passion to help our
vulnerable sector and can give a few
hours a month or more to help drive
people who do not have access to
transportation to their appointments,
grocery shopping, get to a food bank
and or other life needs – ‘We Need
You’. We would greatly appreciate
you joining our team in supporting
our mission to help others get where
they need to go, please call 215-
2100 or email r.r.ruralrides@gmail.
com for more information. Drivers
need to be over the age of 21, have a
reliable automobile, carry $2 million
liability (we will reimburse the extra
charge up to $80 per year), sign
an oath of confidentiality, provide
references and have clear a police
record check.
