Riverview Arts Center, promoting the Arts in our community The Riverview Arts Centre is housed within the Royal Theatre just inside the front doors of Riverview High School. It operates as a non-profit organization through the cooperation of the province, the Anglophone-East School District, the Town of Riverview and a large group of volunteers who manage almost every aspect of the Centre. Since 2006, our stage has hosted a wide variety of performers always with a view to providing live performances for all ages to enjoy. Volunteers are the heart of the organization and take many forms: backstage, sound and lights, hospitality in ushering and parking duties, management work of various kinds, programming for the season, meeting and introducing artists, and generally expanding one’s horizons and circle of friends. You just never know how you may be stretched in new and fun ways! Community support is vital to the life of any theatre. Without patrons a theatre is simply a place for dress rehearsals! Every community no matter what its size should have a well-equipped performance space 24 PrimeTime WINTER/HIVER 2017 that allows for local productions along with special events. The Royal Theatre provides that venue for Riverview. Several shows are the annual backbone of the performance schedule including RHS productions, DancEast events, the Super Fiddle Show, and Tis the Season. These form only part of the line-up at RAC. There are regularly 20-25 travelling or local shows that complete each season. The New Year begins with a performance by Dave Gunning and James Keelaghan, followed by Symphony NB’s Musical Cuisine, Les Hay Babies and Ivan Coyote in the spring. You can be part of this interesting community project by buying a ticket to a show, volunteering your time at the Centre, or telling your friends about the great shows you’ve already seen in our venue. See you at the theatre! Riverview Arts Centre Info 506 852-7189 www.RiverviewArtsCentre.ca
