The File of Life is a personal
home file prepared for
Emergency First Responders.
When purchased the homeowner
fills out the medical card then
places the package on the
outside face of the refrigerator.
If you do have to call 911 for
help, your medical information
is available to the Emergency
First Responders should you not
be able to speak. This medical
information file will go with you
to the hospital where emergency
trauma room staff will have
access to it.

Greater Moncton area is being
co-ordinated by the Moncton
Firemen’s Community Fund,
an organization that produces a
Fire Prevention calendar each
year and also is involved with
the 911 Civic Address house
numbers. Project chairman Allan
MacNutt, a retired Moncton
Fire Fighter says” the process
of calling 911 for medical
assistance is a stressful time for
the patient and the emergency
personnel involved. These File of
Life packages can help remove
some of this stress by getting
the patients important medical
information into the hands of
people who can help. When
the fire fighters and ambulance
personnel enter your location,
besides giving emergency
medical assistance, they will be
checking the fridge to see if there
is a File of Life available”.
These File of Life medical
information packages cost $7
and are available at several
Shoppers Drug Mart locations
including 681 Mountain Road,
18 Champlain St, 500 Coverdale
Road and 387 Main St in Shediac.
Plans are underway to distribute
the File of Life packages in other
areas of New Brunswick.
