obtenu une reconnaissance juridique de son changement
de sexe. Après s’être travestis en privé ou publiquement
pendant longtemps, beaucoup de trans consultent un
spécialiste ‒ selon leurs situations personnelles et
sociales, leur motivation et l’appui de leur famille.
Les minorités sexuelles ont longtemps vécu dans l’ombre
de notre société. Elles ont été victimes de discrimination
dans leur recherche d’emploi et de logement; elles ont
été rejetées par leur famille et leurs pairs; et elles ont fait
face à des problèmes de santé et parfois à la violence.
La longue lutte de la communauté transgenre pour se
faire accepter fait maintenant partie de la conversation
nationale, mais il reste encore beaucoup de travail à faire.
