(continued from previous page)
Center says anything can be
used to create art. “But we really
could use more glue, scissors,
paint and paint brushes,” she
says. “And Gesso! We don’t get
enough Gesso.”
Among the artists participating
is Goldie Garcia, who inspired
Chavez to go down the recycling
route. Garcia’s bottle cap
earrings are well known at craft
shows around the city. Gilbert
Candelaria also is participating,
and his large metal ravens sport
flatware for feathers. Even
Swanson himself will be doing
an art workshop at 2:30 p.m.
April 29. Rachel Zollinger offers
an art workshop at 2:30 p.m.
April 30. Zollinger is a modern
artist working in numerous media
whose show “Object of Vertu,”
will be on display at the Open
Space Visitor Center Gallery
March 25 to May 28.
“My work is a confluence
of experiential and critical
meditation on human impact,”
Zollinger says on her website.
Live music starts at 11 a.m.
with Jazz Brasileiro on April 29
and Frank and Debos’ Jazz Head
Duo on April 30. Joan Cere and
