Storytelling
Campers listen to tales from classical mythology , create their own mythical monsters , and color Pandora ’ s box while relaxing with a snack .
Closing Ceremony
Our mythology camp ends with a closing ceremony attended by parents . Sometimes campers perform skits or demonstrate the fighting techniques discussed above . One favorite is a mythology-themed Certamen in which different cabins compete to see which Olympian has the smartest offspring .
Many of my students say attending mythology camp was their favorite JCL event all year . As an educator , this event is a significant learning opportunity for my students . Mythology camp allows the incorporation of play , competition , and creativity to encourage students to think about classics on a deeper level . This helps to diversify learning activities they experience throughout the year .
