American Classical League Charles Humphreys Award for Innovative Pedagogy
The American Classical League established the Charles Humphreys Award for Innovative Pedagogy in memory of Charles Humphreys to recognize excellence in teaching Classics and Classical Languages . Nominees exemplify those qualities which Charles himself brought to teaching and the profession , namely a “ sparkling enthusiasm for scholarship , education , and the Humanities ,” which lead to innovative teaching practices , including interdisciplinary instruction and authentic , real life learning opportunities for all students .
Nathalie Roy , an active member of Excellence Through Classics , was the recipient of the 2023 American Classical League Charles Humphreys Award for Innovative Pedagogy . Nathalie received her award at the annual ACL Institute in St . Louis , Missouri .

Nathalie teaches at Glasgow Middle School in Louisiana and works tirelessly to advocate for the classics . Nathalie presents classics through the lens of STEM education , introducing Latin and classics to a wide scope of learners .
Excellence Through Classics has been honored to work with Nathalie to produce content for ETC Live . She is also a regular contributor to the PRIMA publication , and serves on the committee for the Pegasus National Latin Exam .
Upon presenting the award , ACL President Jennie Luongo shared :
