Traci Dougherty
Traci Dougherty was elected as Chair of the Executive Board of Excellence through Classics this summer.
"The opportunity to give back to elementary & middle school teachers, serve the Latin community, and lead Excellence Through Classics forward is a dream come true."
Traci Dougherty
After teaching Latin and History at Souderton Area High School, I found myself presenting and attending the American Classical League Conferences. There, I met Krystal Kubichek, ETC past Chair, who suggested that my teaching style and ideas really served the middle school population well. She suggested that ETC would be a great place for me and encouraged me to run for a position. Then, I was elected Secretary, a position I held for 4 years. before it morphed into the Communications Chair. Switching to teaching middle school Latin at Sandy Run Middle School only further strengthened my connection to ETC. The rest is history!
Working with passionate and inspired individuals at Excellence Through Classics and the American Classical League has been the most rewarding part of my career. We thank Zee Ann Poerio and K.C. Kless for their years of service. We welcome Brad Savage to the Executive Board; we also welcome Michael Posey, Megan Felder and Sherry Lee to the ETC family. Michael will be working on our newest exam, National Mythology: Pegasus exam; Megan Felder and Sherry Lee will be working on National Mythology: Medusa exam under the leadership of Cheryl Cheatham, National Mythology Exams Chair.
There are lots of exciting things to look forward to from ETC this coming year, including:

We will be incorporating underrepresented voices into the PRIMA publication and our teacher resources, creating a fund to sponsor access to contests and exams, and having our documents vetted by the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Committee.
