Community Spotlight
PFLAG is the nation’ s largest organization dedicated to supporting, educating and advocating for LGBTQ + people and those who love them. There are more than 400 PFLAG chapters in the US and we have one in El Paso since the 80’ s.
In PFLAG El Paso we lead with love. We have support meetings where we listen with respect and compassion, and meet LGBTQ people and those who love them where they are, making sure we provide a safe space where everyone belongs. We help parents and families on their journey towards acceptance and understanding.
In January, 2024 we added a support meeting in Spanish, because it’ s crucial that everyone has the opportunity to get support or to participate in any way they feel comfortable.
When someone is not ready to attend our group sessions, we also provide one on one support. Right now, we assist LGBTQ + people and parents from Ecuador, NYC, San Antonio, Chihuahua and Ciudad Juárez. Last year, we started working with LGBTQ + organizations
from Ciudad Juarez like Compañeros and we just joined the Comité Mixto de la IV Cumbre Nacional de Marchas LGBTQ + in México, where we’ ll help organizing the next binational convention in Ciudad Juárez.
Our new meeting location is the home of our sister organization, Borderland Rainbow Center, because together we are stronger.
