Every UNECOM faulty member, professional staff member and student should feel respected, valued and encouraged to be themselves and share their talents. We have learned that our culture has many strengths. We also have opportunities to do things better. We will continue to take a closer look at who we are, how we operate and where we may need to improve. We recognize that focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion may feel new for many of us, but it is who we are. The core of DEI work is respect, and that is a value we all share. We are fully committed to this work, and we ask that you join us in that commitment toward the hope and promise of a better tomorrow, to facilitate productive conversations across all walks of life and to gain a better understanding not just for each other, but also of oneself. UNE has a robust social media campaign planned for pride month, and I encourage our COMmunity members to host events, teach-ins, provide social media content, etc.

Dear COMmunity,
We deeply value Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at UNE COM and we want all of our COM Faculty, Professional Staff and Students to feel welcomed, included and supported in our environment. Simply put, Diversity is where everyone is invited to the party, Inclusion means that everyone gets to contribute to the playlist and Equity means that we make certain everyone has the resources they need to dance. My pledge is to continue to provide events and learning opportunities to increase DEI knowledge and awareness through 1) Education, 2) Creating a welcoming and inclusive culture and 3) Diverse representation.
