The annual report for 2020 for activities of the Mosaic Project of South Texas ( MPST ) can be summarized with two words – global pandemic . When the MPST began calendar year 2020 , planning efforts were well underway for the organization ’ s annual PRIDE festivities in June 2020 . The year held much promise for significant involvement and broad support because 2020 was not only a decennial census year , it was an election year for local , state and national offices , including President . What no one could have anticipated with the devastating impact the global coronavirus pandemic would have on the MPST , PRIDE activities , but more significantly the world . In about one month ’ s time , the newly named coronavirus 19 ( or COVID-19 ) would spread from China to virtually every continent on the globe in a matter of months . As the pandemic grew , travel was restricted , mass gatherings , including PRIDE parades and events , were canceled .
