What do you see first? The vase or the two people making a first impressions of each other? Either way, you still probably made a snap judgement very similarly to a first impression. Although as a group humans are accurate at judging correctly, the accuracy does not hold true for each and every circumstance. Individually some people are better at judging than other while other factors, like mood, surrounding, or previous knowledge, can affect the first impression of someone.
There are several simple ways of creating a great (or at least better) first impression
Smile – that shouldn’t be too hard
Copy cat – Try to copy the body language of the other person – this helps because people like others who are similar to themselves
Ask- ask broad questions and seem interested (don’t fake a smile though… that’s just awkward)
Relax- don’t freak out and everything will be fine – take deep breaths if necessary which helps with calming your nerves down and make your voice sound more confident
