2 cups apples, sliced
2 cups pears, sliced
11/2 cup fresh cranberries
1 cup pineapple chunks (save the juice)
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) butter, melted
1/ 3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon, plus extra for
topping
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey

1/ 3 cup chopped raw walnuts or pecans
2 teaspoons melted butter, to coat
walnuts

Preheat oven to 300°.
In a large bowl, toss the apples, pears, cranberries, and pineapples. Add lemon juice, toss
again, and set aside.
In a glass bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup or
honey. Mix in a few tablespoons of reserved pineapple juice.
Add sugar and butter mixture to fruit and coat evenly.
Pour fruit evenly into a 13- by 9-inch baking dish.
Toss nuts in 2 teaspoons melted butter and a pinch of cinnamon. Sprinkle the nuts over the
top of the dish and bake for 1 hour.
