erstwhile employer. Being life-long friends and now her
live-in companion did not give Polly the right to censor
messages or special requests!
He was fond of his mother-in-law – they were on
the best of terms, but he was determined that Sarah
should hear about his friend’s problem. Whatever she
advised him to do, he would accept. If anyone other than
his mate, Dave, had told him about the haunting, Gavin
wouldn’t have believed it, but they had been at school
together and he could tell Dave was genuinely scared
for his family’s safety. Apart from anything else, one or
other of Gavin’s two younger daughters often baby-sat
for the three children; he certainly did not want them to
be scared half to death.
Gavin was determined to tell Sarah, if Polly didn’t.
Dave’s description of what he had witnessed personally
was frightening. In the meantime, if they needed a baby-
sitter, he would have to volunteer himself!
