Dave was soon at ease and , naturally enough , was curious to find out what Sarah had experienced that was similar to his son ’ s house being haunted . Gavin glanced apologetically at Sarah – he had not wanted to tell Dave the truth but need not have worried . Sarah said people often blamed mischievous spirits when missing objects reappeared mysteriously . Most were joking , but she knew of at least one haunting , which was not at all funny , so she would listen to his account with an open mind .
Apparently , the young couple had selected the house before the building was completed and were thrilled to have been able to choose some of the fixtures and fittings . The children had settled in quickly , enjoying the garden and having more space in their rooms to play . Although Amy and Holly shared the larger one of the two , Andy felt quite superior having one to himself ; on the plans , it was described as an adjoining dressing room . He kept it amazingly tidy as if to demonstrate that he had not been responsible for their messy playroom before the move .
