her . It had rained during the morning , so she was keen to take advantage of the loosened soil . Having showered , resting with a book passed another hour , so it was not until after dinner that Sarah remembered to ask Polly about Gavin ’ s problem . She knew that his daughters sometimes babysat for a friend ’ s grandchildren and guessed that the friend must be Dave . Polly was aware that Sarah had overheard part of her conversation , so she first confirmed that the person with a problem was the son of Gavin ’ s oldest friend . Polly had met Dave but didn ’ t really know his family ...
Sarah agreed with Polly that they couldn ’ t dismiss the idea that the children might be playing tricks on their parents , but Polly explained that there were more alarming incidents . Gavin would be able to describe the situation better , to them both , if Sarah had time to see him . Of course , Sarah agreed – she was always willing to help when asked . Tuesday was not one of her busy days , so they agreed that Gavin could bring Dave round for a drink and a chat , at about six-o-clock the following day .
Gavin was delighted when Polly rang to invite him , with or without Dave . He contacted Dave , immediately , telling him that both his mother-in-law and Sarah had encountered similar circumstances and might therefore be able to offer advice , but he decided not to mention that Sarah was psychic .
As always , at the prospect of another investigation , Polly ’ s thoughts were churning – excitedly anticipating how Sarah would tackle the problem and how she would be able to help . Sarah , quietly enjoying her coffee as she
