Pardo's Path to Pressman

Surprisingly, teachers have lives outside of grading tests and preparing class lessons. This issue, we will be interviewing Ms. Pardo.

Q: How long have you worked at Pressman Academy?

A: Ms. Pardo started in 2007 as a religious school teacher for 7th grade and kindergarten and 1st grade. Then she became a TA (Teacher Assistant) in the day school for two years and applied to get her teaching credentials. Last year was her first year as a full-time day school teacher. She still teaches in religious school to this day.

Q: What do you love about your job?

A: She loves the subjects that she teaches (English, Social Studies, and Math) and the students that she teaches and is pleased when she sees them grow. She says that she learns a great deal from her students. It's a privilege for her to learn from her students.

Q: What do you do in your free time?

A: In her spare time, Ms. Pardo plays

with her kids (her daughter is in 1st grade and her son is in 5th grade). She spends a lot of time with her kids. Ms. Pardo always helps them with homework, talks with them, and watches their activities. She reads and writes quite a bit in her free time. She is a very active member of her kids' school (school board) at Canfield. She is also very active in shul (volunteers, committees, etc.)..

Q: What did you do before working at Pressman Academy?

A: She was an editor first in New York editing books and then in Los Angeles for brochures.

Q: What drives you to continue working at Pressman Academy?

A: Ms. Pardo enjoys working in a Jewish day school and especially loves the T’fillah and Hebrew aspects. The school gives her a chance to be creative and it is a very collaborative environment with the other teachers.
