COMMUNITY GUIDE 2026

St. Michael-Albertville Schools: Prioritizing students

The St. Michael-Albertville School District serves 6,901 students in preschool through age 22 at eight schools and includes the communities of Albertville, St. Michael, Otsego, Hanover and Monticello Township.
The district’ s longstanding tradition of excellence can be attributed to its commitment to putting students first. This value is an essential ingredient to their success and guides them in making decisions every day.
The STMA approach is best reflected in the district’ s vision statement:“ STMA Schools will be the pride of our community, educating the whole student, with excellence in academics, arts, activities and athletics through the empowerment of a world-class staff.”
Testing scores rank STMA above students in Minnesota and the nation. Individually, STMA students rank in the top 12.3 % for science proficiency, in the top 8.6 % for math, and in the top 11.2 % for reading.
Students also excel in athletics, arts and activities, as is evident by students and teams consistently being recognized year after year at the local, regional, state and national levels. These highly successful programs do not happen by chance. They are a collaborative effort by many and are rooted in hard work, dedication and commitment. Impressively, over 960 community education classes are offered for ages birth through adulthood.
STMA maintains sound fiscal practices and retains a solid

All Minnesota school districts are required to have an independent audit firm conduct an annual financial audit at the close of each fiscal year. STMA received an“ unmodified opinion” in the FY2025 audit, the best opinion the auditor can issue.
STMA welcomes and encourages parents and community members to be involved, informed and to exercise an active voice in the education of students and the operations of the school district. The district believes in a collaborative approach and values transparency and stakeholder feedback. STMA invites and encourages families and community members to engage in the decision-making process by serving on any of the 20 school and district advisory councils. Visit the Opportunities for Engagement webpage on the district’ s website for additional information, including advisory focus, meeting frequency, facilitator name and contact information and more.
STMA strives for a bright future by honoring its roots and not resting on its laurels. By increasing academic achievement for all students, while offering numerous opportunities for students and maintaining sound fiscal practices, the school district continues to be the pride and center of the community.
The STMA School Board meets at 6 p. m. on the first and third Monday each month at St. Michael-Albertville Middle School West, 11343 50th St. NE., Albertville, 763-497-3180.
