There are two artists that Dave works with very frequently, and they were asked what makes Dave different from other promoters and what has their experience working with Dave been like. Wyatt Olney states that, "Over the last decade, I have worked with countless promoters. Dave Morgan gives more selflessly to the local music scene than any man I have ever met. When I met Dave, my career was in shambles and venues did not know how to classify me. Too heavy for acoustic shows, too soft for hard rock shows. Dave believed in me. Dave lifted me up and put me on countless stages in front of countless fans off of his belief in my art. The biggest difference between Dave and other promoters, is that he truly cares. He cares about real art, and he cares about musicians being taken care of in a harsh musical economy. He provides young broke bands with killer shows, food and lodging for absolutely nothing in return. He will go broke so that artists don't go hungry. He is truly a hero within the PNW Music scene. I can firmly say that I would not still have a successful music career without Dave Morgan"
"Dave is one of my favorite event promoters to work with, he's not only thorough about making sure a show comes off successfully as planned, he is also always working behind the scenes to exceed expectations. Dave's pretty rad."- Saint John of Saint John and the Revelations.
When Dave walks through the door to one of his shows his mindset is not on the money, it is focused on the show. He wants to make sure that the artists, venue and customers are all happy with the outcome of his shows. He puts his heart into every show he books. His advice for those who want to get into the music industry through promoting and booking is to; make connections with someone who already knows the business; don’t go into this blindly; screen your artists before booking them; accept constructive criticism; and above all else, don’t skip a step, you have to book the show, promote your show, leave enough time to promote your show, make fliers and put them up, talk to people about your shows and get them interested in telling others about your shows, and don’t take all this on by yourself, get a team together, and understand that there are times that you have to swallow your pride and ask or accept help from others. His last piece of advice for new promoters is if something goes wrong just be open and honest with the artists, they will have more respect for you in the long run.
Dave wants to take his knowledge and skills to eventually open his own venue. He wants this venue to be all ages that will also have a bar, amazing food and plenty of parking for everyone, along with making sure that this future venue is in a location that is accessible for everyone. Until Dave is able to make this dream come true, he has made a home at Mobster Mike’s in Bremerton, WA.
