DIVERSITY , EQUITY

As a Catholic , Mercy institution whose Core Values include Service to Society , Integrity in

Word and Deed , Respect for the Dignity of Each Person , and Social Justice in a Diverse World , the concepts of diversity , equity , and inclusion have always been a part of our mission .
However , Gwynedd Mercy University has been more committed than ever to advancing DEI in our culture , curriculum , and community , beginning with a key hire last fall . Tatiana Diaz , MA , joined GMercyU in November 2020 as the inaugural Assistant Vice President for Diversity , Equity & Inclusion and head of the Office of Diversity , Equity
& Inclusion . Diaz has devoted the last year to drafting a DEI Strategic Plan with a committee of faculty and staff . Together , they developed a roadmap that allows the University to more fully “ live ” diversity , equity , and inclusion as a key part of our mission and our Mercy identity .
The main themes of the plan include :

The entire DEI Strategic Plan will be shared with the community in January .
“ Centering DEI in our Mercy culture requires all of us as a community to meaningfully internalize the work outlined in the plan and engage in collaborative implementation to make it happen ,” said Assistant Vice President for Diversity , Equity & Inclusion Tatiana Diaz , MA . “ We ’ ve already begun .”
