A MESSAGE from the PRESIDENT
As I look out my office window in Assumption Hall , I ’ m grateful for the change of seasons and the beautiful fall foliage we are lucky enough to experience here on campus . More importantly , however , I ’ m grateful for the hustle and bustle of students walking to and from class , the sounds of whistles and fans cheering up at the turf field and yes , even the filled parking lots .
The “ normal ” and mundane activities that we may have taken for granted now serve as a reminder of how far we have come . I am so incredibly proud of our entire campus community for the dedication and commitment they have shown to protecting their fellow Griffins and keeping GMercyU safe during the pandemic .
As this issue goes to print , 94 % of our on-campus students , faculty and staff are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and there have been only two positive tests from our on-campus weekly tests - a huge accomplishment !*
This wouldn ’ t have been possible without the leadership of the Emergency Management Team , which has worked tirelessly to educate our community and ensure fair access to vaccines and tests through on-campus vaccine clinics and testing sites . I am forever grateful for their leadership .
The collaborative spirit and respect for our fellow Griffins is at the core of who we are as a Mercy institution and what makes GMercyU such a special place to study , work , and visit . As you ’ ll see in the pages of this report , GMercyU is comprised of supportive and caring people both on and off campus who live and breathe our Mercy mission and core values of integrity , respect , service , and social justice .
The return to campus has brought me so much joy and I am looking forward to continuing the traditions we have so dearly missed . I hope to see you on campus soon .
I wish you continued health and a safe - and festive - holiday season !
