Connelly Scholarship This scholarship provides recognition and financial assistance to outstanding education students in the School of Business and Education with SAT scores of 1000 or more, minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrated financial need. Preference is given to graduates of Catholic high schools. Maguire Scholars Scholarship The Maguire Scholars Award is funded by Mr. and Mrs. James J. Maguire through The Maguire Foundation, a philanthropic enterprise that primarily focuses its resources on education. To be considered for the scholarship, you must submit an application and essay, demonstrate financial need, and have a GPA of at least 3.0. Craig Vinciguerra Management, 2018 Here: Craig participated in the Griffin Student Leadership Institute, was a member of Sigma Beta Delta, the International Business Honor Society, and served as President of the Gwynedd Mercy Association for the Education of Young Children (GMAEYC) all while working full-time. Now: After graduation, Craig landed a spot in a management-in-training program as an Operations Associate at a local, large scale Continuing Care Retirement Community in Bucks County, Pa. “ I was responsible for paying for my entire college tuition, so receiving a generous scholarship like this lightened the financial burden on me. It also gave me a sense of pride and achievement that I would have even been considered for such a prestigious award. Omar Duggan Respiratory Care, 2016 Aubrey Cook Nursing, 2018 Here: Aubrey was a four-year member of the Women’s Lacrosse Team and served as Captain during her senior year. She also participated in the Nursing Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic where she delivered aid to more than 300 people in the bateyes of La Romana. Now: Aubrey is currently a Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Coronary Care Unit at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and is the Assistant Coach for GMercyU’s Women’s Lacrosse Team. “ Kathleen and Alan Owens Scholarship In Mr. Maguire’s book, “Just Show Up Every Day,” he provides us with six steps to success. I have used these steps throughout college and in my career to get me where I am today. Because they believed in me, I am successful. Here: While enrolled in GMercyU’s Respiratory Care program, Omar participated in clinical rotations at the University of Pennsylvania Health System and Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. He was also named to the Dean’s List and was a member of the Alpha Eta Honors Society. Now: Omar is currently a Registered Respiratory Therapist at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and for SmartVest ® Airway Treatment System. He is also an entrepreneur and is the Co-Founder of several businesses, including Automated Charge, Inc., a smartphone-charging kiosk; Blend on Canvas, an online art shop; and an upcoming non-profit called Utopia Health, which supports the homeless in the Miami, Fla. region. ” “ I feel like I had an advantage compared to my New York counterparts, the students coming from New York schools.
