'JUNGLE RED' is a new kind of film. It will be the first feature film project that combines the standard film format with the rapidly growing world of fashion art films. The film is a sensory treat, rich in symbolic imagery, humor, social commentary, music and glamour. The film contains fantasy sequences, outrageous fashion, and art direction provided by luminaries in the fashion and art arenas. Jungle
Red will also break new ground in entertainment by allocating 50% of profits from the film to the UNDP to support its work globally in combating the spread of HIV/AIDS. We are thrilled that the UNDP will partner with Jungle Red for the film release and join us in our marketing efforts.
'JUNGLE RED' is a wild, no-holds barred and emotionally affecting joy ride. Set in post-Katrina New Orleans, 'JUNGLE RED' tells the story of an LGBT community center that sits squarely in the most dangerous part of the city, as well as its regulars and what they do to remind themselves that, like their beloved city, they too can carry on in the face of desperate times.
When confronted with the trials of saving the center in an already ravaged city and being marginalized within the city, we see what actions our characters are forced to take to defend themselves and the center and show their community that they too are valuable, equal and deserve recognition and respect as such. And so we meet the drag queens, trannies, straight women and leather men who have the courage and the will to throw themselves into putting on the best show that anyone in New Orleans has ever seen. Despite what they appear to be on the surface: colorful characters with glitter to spare, beneath the glitter are human beings as fragile as they are strong.
