The Discovery of the Buckle by Avanna Rohde (continued)
Mariana had to make at least 30 rounds to the car until all of
them were finally packed, but what were in those boxes? I went
to the car and peaked through the window and then figured that
I could just walk into the car so as I did that, I heard the voices of
Mariana and Jeff as they walked to the car together and hopped
in and drove away at high speed. Of course, I was still in the car
during this, so I had no choice but to leave with them.
When we finally arrived, I jumped out and followed them. I
thought we were going into the building through the back door
because the car stopped at the back of the building but instead
they just stayed outside. They started unpacking the boxes from
the car and when they had finally finished, they opened the
boxes and inside the boxes were lots and lots of buckles. Wait,
they were all the same as the buckle that was around my waist.
Jeff started talking about the buckles as if they meant so much
to him but nothing at all at the same time. He was saying that
his grandfather made every single last one of these buckles and
he disliked him so much that he wanted to burn all the buckles.
Then a man interrupted him and asked him what were in the
boxes. When Jeff told him that they were silly looking old buckles
that were rusted, the man asked if he could buy one for his
collection, but Jeff just said whatever, so the man picked up one
of the buckles and he replied with a thanks and he left. Then Jeff
went on and on about why he should burn the buckles and he
goes ahead and does it.
I started thinking about how I ended up with this buckle and
thought to myself maybe since the buckle belonged to my dad,
he could have been the one who got that one buckle before they
burned them and the man who stepped on me at the party was
Jeff’s son. That couldn’t be right, could it? Then I felt the sudden
burn of fire on my chest and fell to the ground.

I woke up in the party room, thinking of the recent events
that had just happened and why no one else knew about it. It
couldn’t have been a dream, could it? I could hear the siren of
police cars and there were cops everywhere. My family are trying
to wake me up and trying to find out why that man was treating
me like that. I didn’t listen to what they were saying and quickly
looked down to see if the buckle was still on my belt and held it
in my hands so that no one could take it. I couldn’t let anyone
take it because its so special to me.
