In this presentation, we will review how nutrition may be linked to healthy and glowing skin. As the skin is often a reflection of our state of inner health, nutritional modifications play a big role in our overall health and skin health. We will discuss particular foods, vitamins and minerals that may offer benefits for skin health. Upon the conclusion of the class, the skin specialist will be more prepared and better understand the role of nutrition and supplements in skin health restoration.
Melasma and Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation Mon 3:30- 4:15p

The skin specialist will see many clients who will present with Melasma or hyperpigmentation. Often it is very difficult to achieve satisfactory results on many of these patients. Most of these people have tried many topicals, lasers, chemical peels and other alternative options only to be left frustrated and disappointed at the results. In this class, we will evaluate the foundation pathway for melanogenesis and look at key steps where melanin synthesis may be potentially inhibited. We will look at the treatment options currently available and how some of the new novel therapies may work and provide skin whitening and brightening effects. Upon the completion of this class, the skin care professional should be in a much better position to recommend treatment options that will be based on skin science and knowledge which should provide superior clinical results.
