I was never trained or given help as to how to “construct, build or develop” a sermon. All I have managed to do is read a few American papers on the subject. Perhaps we need to heed Paul in 1 Corinthians 14, urging us to build up the church and “speak to the people for their up-building, and encouragement and consolation”.’ George Chew, Kingston Not too conservative for some ‘In reference to the comment by Mike Dennis (Preach, Spring 2015, letters) that too many of the articles seemed to come from those of a somewhat conservative bent and exhorting the input from members of the “Progressive Christianity Network”, I have to say I was very happy with the magazine and its representation of evangelical orthodoxy. Furthermore when I was accredited as a local preacher I gave a solemn pledge not to preach anything contrary to Methodist doctrine. This is a pledge I have kept ‘I’d just like to thank you so much for the two copies of Preach (and Ichthus) that dropped through my door this morning.
