3. 2V2 TRANSITION TO SMALL GOALS WITH“ BUMPER” PLAYERS
» 40 yds x 25 yds » Unlimited touches in center. » Must play to front bumpers, who must play it back to teammates with one touch, who then must score with one touch.
» Only goals in this manner will count.
» Bumper players can move laterally along end line, but may not enter field of play
» Play for 2 minutes at a time and then switch who is in center and who is on bumpers.
» Designed to work on quick transition into attack and angle of support, as well as combination play. There is a fitness component to it, as well. » Can play 3v3 in middle, as well.
4. 8V8- CREATING NUMBERS UP ON TRANSITION
» 80 yd x 50 yd.- 2 full-size goals » Partition field into 3 sections:
30 yd-20 yd-30 yd.
» GK and 3 players in defensive third, 2 players in middle third, 2 players in attacking third.
( A) Players can go forward zones but may not go back zones. Thus, the 2 defensive players can play in all 3 zones, midfielders may play in middle & attacking zones, forwards may play in the attacking zone only.
Designed to work on attacking forward quickly to create a numbers up scenario. The quicker a team transitions to attack, the more of a numbers advantage as the opponent must transition back into defense.
( B) Take zones off and remove all restrictions. Play, incorporating ideas learned during session on checking in to create opportunity for quick transition and movement of players when & where to support the attack on transition.
