OUR MISSION The mission of United Soccer Coaches is to provide programs and services that enhance, contribute to, and advocate for the development and recognition of soccer coaches, players, and the game we love.
OUR VISION United Soccer Coaches is the trusted and unifying voice, advocate, and partner for the development of coaches at all levels of the game.
» Mike Berticelli Excellence in Coaching Education Award – Presented to a member of the Academy staff for outstanding contributions to coaching education.
» Foundation Meritorious Service Award – Also called the William Holleman Award, this honor recognizes individuals or organizations that support philanthropy and exemplify the Foundation’ s mission.
In addition, the Association recognizes individuals through Letters of Commendation, Certificates of Appreciation and the prestigious Honorary All-America Award. This honor is reserved for individuals who have brought distinction to the sport, including past recipients from diverse fields such as the military, entertainment and public service.
Another key member benefit is our rankings program. United Soccer Coaches provides regional and national rankings at both the high school and collegiate levels. Collegiate rankings cover all NCAA divisions, NAIA, NCCAA and junior college soccer, while high school rankings recognize both boys’ and girls’ teams across fall, winter and spring seasons. Through our new partnership, the Intercollegiate Women’ s Soccer Organization for Coaches( IWSOC) will also play an integral role in the women’ s NCAA rankings.
Recognition extends beyond teams and individuals to our long-standing members as well. Beginning in 2026, we will publish a list of long-term members on our website to celebrate their continued dedication to the Association. Members reaching milestone anniversaries will also receive certificates of recognition, with those celebrating 50 or 60 years of membership honored with a special lapel pin presented at Convention or sent directly if they are unable to attend.
None of these efforts would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers. Leading the way is the National Awards Council, guided by Vice President for Awards and Recognition Rob Andrulis, along with numerous regional and national committees who devote countless hours to ensuring the success of these programs.
Ultimately, the awards and recognition program is more than a celebration of achievement— it is a reflection of the passion, commitment and impact our members bring to the game every day. Whether nominating a player, recognizing a colleague or celebrating your own milestones, we encourage you to take full advantage of this meaningful member benefit. Together, we honor those who elevate the game on and off the field, strengthening our Association and the soccer community we all share. n
