Packaging Reality
Researchers from university of Glasgow have proved that the high
consumption of fruit juices can lead to increased risks of severe diseases
like diabetes . When the researchers compared these packaged fruit juices
and fizzy cola , it was found that fruit juices contained 110 kcal and 26 g of
sugar while cola contained 105 kcal and 26.5 g of sugar . 26 g of sugar in
each serving of fruit juices means that the person is taking 5 table spoons of
sugar . Now when the summer is almost here , people tend to gulp this
packaged fruit juice when they are thirsty . Consuming sugar rich juice could
lead to acute glucose toxicity which may result in damaging the liver eyes
and kidneys in the long run.
Many diabetologists and nutritionists in the country agree that the packaged
fruit juices could spell danger for diabetics and pre diabetics . A study
sponsored by the Indian Council of Medical Research found 62 million
million people across India were diabetic and 77 million were pre diabetic .
Thus it is always better to eat fruits and vegetables and absorb their
goodness.
