Fifteenth of April, 1726 Sunny skies with a cloudy mix The Cambridge lad out for a stroll Yeah, they had those before malls Deciding to take a little shade Oh that decision, history it made Nestling below a nice apple tree Letting his mind wander free An apple oh so plump and red Fell straight onto Newton’s head The apple just harmlessly bounced away But thing it did was here to stay Suddenly an idea struck his wit Why actually his head was hit The apple could have roam around free Then why did it ‘fall’ from the tree What if the Earth attracts the apple and the apple attracts the earth And so gravitation took birth Newton worked tirelessly day and night To prove what was right And finally on a new branch of physics, light he shed All because of the apple that fell on Newton’s head I wish I had a time machine And could turn back the clock Visit Newton, cancel his walk And maybe gravitation would never have been thought about And we would have given our exams without any doubt But the time machine requires science as well Will it be made, well, only ‘time’ will tell Till then the laws of gravitation, we continue to dread All because of the apple that fell on Newton’ head! But what if Isaac hadn’t sat Would we still have thought that the Earth was flat? Would my gadgets turn into parchment and scroll If he wouldn’t have taken that stroll Okay I agree, that it put humanity well ahead The apple that fell on Newton's head -Paavas Bhasin S5-C
