TOURIST
Local resident surveyed during this
research outlined their frustration over
the large crowd of tourists in the area.
OVERCROWDING
Overcrowding stands as the clear least favourite aspect of Covent Garden according to its visitors, particularly on Saturdays
and during the festive season, which attract many shoppers
from outside London to visit the area.
“ It ma be beautiful and unique but it’s not
y
worth dealing with the large crowds
of people and tourists on the Piazza. I
rather go to a more chilled place, this
is not my vibe”

TUBE STATION
The current street station serving the area
is not fit to welcome the large crowds
travelling to the areas during peak time.
The deep underground location is only
accessible through lifts and staircase,
which can create large congestions at
peak times. Transport for London has
been encouraging travellers to utilize other nearby station to decongestion Covent
Garden station.

MARKET OFFER
7%
The Apple market has been restore in the 1970’s
to accommodate a local craft market. However,
this market offer does not align with the neighbourhood up market retail offer and tends to further attract touristy crowds, which contradict the
overall Covent Garden market strategy.
OVER commercialization
The recent remarketing of the area led to the arrival of many
multi national corporations in this once historical landmark of
London. Many visitors regret such direction in marketing and
outline a decline in the heritage value of the neighbourhood.
This dislike was expressed by older interviewees, who for most,
remember the area from previous decades.
“ I remember the neighbourhood from decades ago, it was beautiful and unique. It has
changed so much. I am saddened to witness
that large comp
anies are taking over the
neighbourhood and turning it into yet another commercial centre.”
