142 143 Appendix 5* Personal observations from Stylist 24 hours challenge I visited Stylist pop up office on Friday 8th of November end of a rainy afternoon in London. The pop up office was located in a bright transparent unit located at Regent’s place, near London’s Euston station. The office was a large space entirely set up for the one-off event. From outside it was difficult to witness any precise task undertaken by editors inside. Overall, it seemed very flat inside, with only a few editors at work on their laptops while most of the team was more busy sipping champagne and greeting friends and guests “allowed” to access the office. In fact no outside visitors were allowed any access to the promising pop up office and the place was well guarded by a panel of security guards. The event felt like an arrogant set up that made anyone outside the room feel out of place. I personally felt uncomfortable watching all those people having fun while miserably standing in the rain outside and I was not the only one. Appendix After an hour on site during which no sign of amelioration arose, I decided to warm up myself at a nearby Startbuck with a hot chocolate and reflect on the experience. I felt disappointed by Stylist and their “promised” sensational event. So many things could have been done in a smarter way starting with hiring a production company to handle the organization. This way, surely, thing would have happen differently and no one would have blamed the magazine for the lack of consideration towards its readers. I was rather surprise by stylist 24 hour issue content (Bovemebr 20th2013) . From stylist perspective, the event was a success and a well worthy challenge to take on. While, it was probably the case inside the stylist pop up store, no one from the public was allowed to witness that. 7*According to Susie Lau (susiebubble.co,uk), guest speaker to the event, Vogue festival tickets sold out within an hour for the 2013 edition. The venue capacity was raised to 9000 seats (from 200 in 2012) to answer the high demand for tickets. P eople Figure 1 :The Topshop Village survey. Question 2 : what is your gender. 2. . The sample of potential visitors surveyed visit Covent Garden on occasional basis. The majority, 36%, stated to visit Covent Garden only once a year while 30% while visit it several times a year. 16% stated to have never visited the area. 12% stated to visit the neighbourhood once a month and only 7% more than once a month. 1* The Fashion industry is largely dominated by women over men. British fashion council evaluated the current ratio of the industry being 71/29 in favour of females. “It’s not at all what I expected, I feel left out” said Anna, a fashion student who also travel to the event. “We made all this effort to travel here, in the rain and dark expecting to live an awesome experience and all I do is stand here, in the pouring rain, feeling miserable” she continued.
