It was a nice day here in New York City. So I decided to start my day a bit earlier than usual and go the long way to the subway. Instead of the right turn as soon as I leave the building, I decided to take a left turn.

I have to admit that just by going in the opposite direction I felt a sense of freedom. With this liberating feeling, it seemed like everything was new to me. I noticed children playing across the street. I realized there weren’t as many cars passing on the road. I was even saying, “Hello,” “Good morning” or “Nice day, huh?” to the people I passed by. And then I saw a new bakery that sold my favorite of all things to eat – chocolate-chip cookies. I bought two cookies and enjoyed them as I finished my journey to the A train.

This story is not just about the children, the lack of cars or even the cookies. It is about the feeling I felt when noticing these things. It was just simply by deciding to take that left turn. Y’NEVANO.
