Jenevieve Fisher has appeared several times in this publication working on a number of different media projects.

When we caught up with Jenevieve most recently, she was living in Coconut Grove, Fla., and had just returned with her boys from a camping trip in the Everglades. She is the founder of Educate A Cure (www.educateacure.org), an international outreach program dedicated to educating children about childhood disease, illness and disability through a variety of media platforms.

Through one platform, Isaiah 11:6 Publishing Co., Jenevieve began publishing children’s books to inspire, educate and encourage children living with cancer.

Being a faith-based company certainly presents some challenges. Jenevieve found that naming a book company after an Old Testament bible verse was turning off some people she had hoped to reach. Jenevieve recently changed the name of the publishing company to Sower Media.

Changing the name from a biblical reference to a name that is more inclusive and all-encompassing to people of all faiths is important to Jenevieve. While she is solid in her faith of Bible-based Christianity, she wants to act upon her faith and not just talk about it.

“A church or organized religion is not what every person needs to be fulfilled,” she said. “Religion can be a good thing because it gives people hope. And finding hope is the precursor of having genuine faith.”

Newly named Sower Media still has the same mission as Isaiah 11:6 Publishing, except it’s not shouting about religion. Instead, its focus is on getting the message to the children and families who need to learn more about health, nutrition and the many ways to combat childhood disease.

Jenevieve offers the following sage words about religion: “Live your life according to your religion, but always be yourself. Instead of living your faith by shouting out loud, live it quietly. Lead by example. Allow others to see your faith in action.”
