PR for People Monthly September 2014 | Page 5

Dear Friends and Colleagues! Welcome to the September issue of our magazine, PR for People® The Connector. This is our "dirty issue" that focuses on the state of garbage in America.

Our stories feature the people behind the Stop the Dump Coalition in McMinnville, Ore., which is one of the most fertile areas of the United States and is widely considered to be the breadbasket of the Willamette Valley. The Stop the Dump Coalition was formed when a group of farmers, local businesses people, world-class wineries, community civic groups, neighbors and environmental organizations joined together to oppose the expansion of the Riverbend Landfill in Yamhill County.

We have many other stories to share that touch on the environment, alternative energy sources, recycling, resource conservation and even an update on “What happened to Jimmy Hoffa?” We also have a tribute to the AP journalist Matt Kramer, whose work as an investigative reporter made it possible for Oregon beaches to remain accessible to everyone.

As always our mission is to tell the stories about real people who are doing amazing things, but whose stories would go untold because they can’t afford a fancy PR firm to get them into the press. We tell stories about America’s greatest asset — its people.
