In This Issue

For our "green" September issue, we look at not only the entrepreneurs developing technologies to protect the environment, but also the individuals and organizations who have the courage to say "no" to old practices that are harmful to the earth.

There's Oregon farmer Ramsey McPhillips (at right), who stood up to a landfill expansion; the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe for getting a useless dam removed to save salmon runs; the Power Past Coal activists fighting dirty coal trains in the Northwest; and the lone AP journalist Matt Kramer, who almost single-handedly saved the natural Oregon coastline. This issue is dedicated to publicizing their struggles and triumphs.
