LETTER from the EDITOR

-PATRICIA VACCARINO-

Dear Friends and Colleagues: Greetings!

October brings us to the concept of energy. We’re hardwired to feel like we’re starting up the engine in October; it’s a matter of training; all of those years of and having to get up and go to school when all we wanted to do was to slink down under the covers and stay there.

I create my own energy by challenging myself physically. Four days a week, I train in ballet. On my non-ballet days, I do Pilates and dance in Zumba classes. I’ve designed my own killer weight training and balance routine that makes me stronger in dance. Energy doesn’t happen spontaneously. We have to make our own energy. It’s called discipline.

My physical training gives me sharp focus and immense mental stamina so I can work for long hours that produce results. I rarely drink coffee and I don’t worry about running on empty. Every day is a new start and a push to keep producing, creating and thriving.

This October we look at many forms of energy: green, clean, solar, electrical, and the usual commodities. We also look at some eclectic energy topics related to stamina in work, the energy of women, funny energy, the energy of theater, the energy of two activists, and even a shrill buzz from both coffee and weed.
