“At 70 years old, if I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to use the words ‘fuck off’ much more frequently,” Helen Mirren
A friend just reached to me, asking me to write just such a remark -- "You: 60+, what advice would you give your Self -- 20, 30, 40 years back?" I'd say -- "Watch your openness; you might think you're being open, but perhaps you could be more so." I know that I always thought I was open to the future, the potentials, the possibilities, but what I learned is that I'm open to what I ‘want to be open to,’but that I'm not a deep[er] listener, an idea that I could be "listening farther into the holism of the person, and the place of that conversation. And embrace, listen deeper. And more open. So listen wide and deep -- and be broadly open, don't filter yourself, your options, so that your paths to openness might be occluded."
