Puff’s Preserves
Boozy Jam
by Ashley Murrell
Kirsten Farabi has taken on the
family’sDenver, Colorado jam business, adding a
huge twist for the modern day market by adding
booze to her jams, jellies and fruit preserves! Inspired by her late grandfather, Hugo Farabi, Kirsten
Farabi fashions herself as a successor to the family
legacy and an authentic Jamstress.
There is something enticing about a new jar
of fresh fruit preserves that take on the bountiful
fruits of each season. As seasons change, so does the
availability of fruit, allowing the creation of almost
endless combinations of preserves to be created. Focusing on the changing seasons to insure the freshest
combinations of preserves, Puff’s are a culinary treat.
Along with using only the freshest in season and
locally sourced ingredients, Farabi uses the available fruits and herbs as inspiration when picking and
choosing which liquors and brews to enhance her
blends. The alcohol is locally sourced from Colorado
distilleries and craft breweries.
There is plenty to choose from with regular
flavors such as Blood Orange and Fig Port Vanilla
Jam, or Sour Cherry Almond Amaretto. Seasonal
treats range from Blackberry Bourbon Lavender and
Apple Beer Chamomile. The best part? Since the
alcohol cooks off during preparation, the preserves
can be enjoyed by anyone.
Farabi also accepts custom orders, allowing
for customers to create their dream combination for
parties, as gifts or favours during special events such
as weddings and other special occasions. Now that is
service. For the locals around the Denver area, Puff’s
Preserves also goes on the road and has a local calendar where those located close by can taste the goodness before purchasing.
Best of all her jams are available online
(www.puffspreserves.com. Remember the seasons
and be sure to get your favorite while it’s still available.
