Libraries We Love

The key to understanding people begins with education. One way to learn about the world is by developing a love of books. Each month, we will profile a library that one of our whisperers told us about. Do you have a library that you love? Tell us about it.

LIBRARIES WE LOVE

Kalamazoo Public Library is “My Library”

The Kalamazoo Public Library is a place for everyone to explore, discover and engage. Organized in 1860 and opened to the general public in 1872, the Kalamazoo Public Library now serves a district population of 116,000 through five locations plus multiple outreach ventures. Many Southwest Michigan residents use Kalamazoo Public Library through reciprocal agreements with neighboring libraries.

“My hometown library. @KzooLibrary used to share space with a museum and planetarium but got this beautiful brand new building in 1998. I loved the old place and I love the new, even if I don’t visit enough.”
