We’re not always born with the stunning smiles that are featured in popular consumer beauty women’s magazines. In fact, we might suffer from serious challenges to having a great smile. Jim Janakievski DDS, MSD, and Ashley Hoders DMD, MSD, of Oral Health Specialists in University Place, Washington, have worked with a wide range of patients.

Dr. Ashley Hoders is one of a handful of clinicians in the country who is a specialist in both Periodontics and Prosthodontics. Dr. Hoder’s training in two specialties allows her to be involved in comprehensive treatment planning, from diagnostics to treatment. She is able to operate both as a periodontal surgeon and a prosthodontist providing the actual restorative treatment.

When it comes to the smile, first we ask: What is esthetic? Certainly there are age considerations, the actual smile line, the length of the lips, the proportions of the size of the teeth and other factors such as the height of the face and actual proportions of the facial features and how well everything fits together.

Below are two patient case studies with dramatic before and after photos that demonstrate a range of procedures that had a lasting impact in achieving the outcome of a winning smile.
